The Iconic New Porsche 911 Turbo S (Emily Matthews Grease n Gasoline reader)
The new Porsche 911 turbo S has been added to SDAP’s (Sime Darby Auto Performance) iconic portfolio. The Porsche 911 turbo S is among the fastest 911s yet, whose first debut was around forty years ago. This car has an almost level surface between its outer edge and its C-pillar which is almost about a hand’s width. It has a wider track of 28mm and a wheelbase of 100mm longer compared to that of the Carrera 4. It also has a sloping roof which has a teardrop style. Its wheels are forged two-tone 20 inches which have hub locks and it features full LED head lights which have four point daytime running lights (DRL) and a beam control which is based on a camera.
In an effort to perfect its aerodynamics, the Porsche 911 turbo S is the first sports car to have adaptive aerodynamics. Driver calls are responded to in a swift manner regardless of whether it is on a regular road or on a track. This is because of the adjustable rear wing and the extendable front spoiler combination. The interior of the turbo S is equipped well since both Porsche 911 turbo’s build on the Porsche 911 Carrera. Its seats are sport plus and are 18 way adjustment. The leather seats’ backrest has been upholstered with double-cap seams and has various carbon looking elements. The Porsche 911 turbo S comes equipped with a Bose sound system for intrinsic entertainment and sound. It is also possible to up the ante with a Burmester audio system which is optional. Other optional items include a road-sign recognition system controlled by a camera, a cruise-control system which is controlled by radar and a system for recognizing speed limit.
This car is powered by a six cylinder, 3.8 liter engine which has been paired to a PDK seven speed dual clutch transmission. This makes the car have a horsepower of 560 at 6,000-6,500 revolutions per minute. Its torque at 1,950-5,000 revolutions per minute is 660Nn and 710Nm at 2,100-4,250 revolutions per minute. Porsche is the only marque that offers two turbo chargers that have a turbine geometry which is variable for a petrol engine. The Porsche 911 turbo S dashes from 0-100 km/h in a period of just 3.1 seconds and its top speed is at 318km/h. The consumption of fuel has been lowered by up to 16% and this is attributed to the new system for turbo engine thermal management as well as the PDK transmission. This car now consumes 9.7 liters per 100km.
A new multi plate activated coupling which is controlled electronically and an all-wheel drive system have been developed for enhancement of a more precise and faster distribution of power to the 2 axles. This system has been equipped with a water-cooling function which allows the direction of more torque to front wheels when necessary. The new Porsche 911 turbo S has a system for driving assist as well. This is the PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) which is an anti-rolling system.
Given its good look and design complemented by its powerful performance, this car definitely sets a new trademark for Porsche sports cars. It should however be noted that a provisional driving licence is required to drive this automotive.
